Quick Chat Rework

Communication is key in Among Us. Being able to defend yourself against accusations and tell others who you think the Impostor is, is critical to the gameplay. Certain players, due to privacy restrictions, must use the in-game chat builder in order to communicate during meetings. This in-game chat builder is what’s known as Quick Chat. The Quick Chat update released in July 2023, is a redesign if the already-existing Quick Chat system. The devlog for the release can be found here!

Feature Responsibilities

  • Analyze the existing system to determine its strengths and weaknesses

  • Work with the Community team to identify the most common complaints with the existing system

  • Collaborate with the UI/UX designer to create a new interface that is more scalable and user-friendly

  • Designed new and dynamic phrases to better capture the complexities of an Among Us meeting chat

  • Work with the programming team to develop a tool that allowed seamless updates to the Quick Chat system through Excel imports

  • Organized and conducted internal and external playtests to discover highest rated features and pain points with the new Quick Chat system
